Can a collection agency person come to your residence or place of employment to collect moey? Companies with more than 50 employees have to obey the federal collection regulations. One of these is keeping the debtor's name and information confidential. They cannot do this by coming in person to your place of employment. They can call your place of employment, but cannot identify themselves as collecting a debt. It depends on the state laws where you live. I've heard of them coming to your residence and calling for you at your workplace but never showing up at your workplace...that would be quite bold. I doubt your employer would allow that to happen. In California NEVER to your place of employment. |
