Why Do Employment Agencies Exist? |
I have registered with 8 of them in the last week ranging from Reed to Brookstreet. I have seen jobs posted on the internet, given them a call ,then I'm asked to come in and fill in all sorts of forms and complete tests, which I always pass as above average. Then miraculously the job in which I originally enquired suddenly doesnt exist and I leave with the promise of them going to call me when something comes up. These agencies are often filled with females sitting round gossiping with bubbly tweety-pie characters, who obviously must make some sort of commission on the numbers registering rather than finding people work. If I wanted to pick and package stuff for 拢5ph I would work for my local farm, and these seem to be the jobs that are in multiple supply. Has anyone had any positive experiences with these so-called agencies in so far as actually getting a job? Agencies are paid by and therefore work in the best interest of the employers. because the people that work there need a job, and they cant do anything else, and are rubbish at everything... so that how they started, middle men... they exist so the girls who work there can be condecending and sarcastic in a --oh im so very important working in my job and you havent got one ,kind of way! They don't offer real jobs, u are better off doing the job serach yourself. For the most part, the jobs they offer don't even pay much. stay clear they are a rip off i worked in an altoid factory making poisonous sweetys for an agancy the full time workers were paid trbble to my measely 6 拢 Some of them are acting as human resources for warehouses and smaller businesses who have done away with their human resources department to save money. Such companies would not be good to work for anyway, because it would seem profit would be considered above the people who work for them. But I think the agencies discriminate against older workers and workers with health issues or firing/quitting jobs issues. the jobs that are posted on th Internet are not real jobs they are there just to get you in and register in the hope that they can offer you less per hour and jobs that no one else wants job agencies exist so employers can hire and fire at will to suite themselves without breaking any employment laws !!! In the early 80's, yes with a local agency rather than a larger chain. In another part of the UK. I agree with you being angry. I myself have job search and came cross ads for so job opening daily and you send your resume and bam they call in second to interview you. You waste your time down there to be interview no answer. It seems like the just want your data "for marketing practice to say hey we got large group of dumbies signing up" and when you call them in regards the job. The suggest different job they might have open. It seems like the only have like 1 or 2 open in the whole office. Plus you take a stupid test for score if you pass you might get hire temprorary. I noticed you get paid like double whatever most companys offer like 9 or 10 but you only last there for a few days or couple of weeks depending the company. It always the small companys that are usually warehouse. I have also hired it because some company try to save on hiring process from giving out benefits that why they have these so-called temp agencys. I have sign up with a lot of them and got a few jobs. I don't like the whole computer test process. They should be more up front but there making money if the company takes you each day it like they pay you 10 charge the company 15 or 20. So yeah. Office Team is good temp-hire agency. I let the manger note of dumb comment mad on my file i had and I am like what why do they have that there. The manager got bad to me and said there no reason why that should be there to began with but some stupid office manager put there to be dumb. I want to re-sign up but man i dont know if anyone had to go in the welfare and it takes hours for answers in regards to be deny for cash aid if unemployment is not opition. I have a positive post to add. I am starting a new job in January that I was originally supposed to start in October. I left my old job in September obviously thinking that I was starting my new job. Employment or recruitment? There are many agencies around that specialise in securing low paid or skilled manual workers, these should be avoided if you are looking for a professional or career job. Recruitment consultants essentially perform the HR and sifting process on behalf of companies, and thus tend to be quite thorough in vetting potential candidates. I have experience of both recruiting and being recruited via agencies. In my experience do your homework and sign with agencies that operate in whatever it is you want to do and work on building a relationship with them. The more they know what your looking for the better able they are to filter jobs to suit you. Also a good recruiter will ensure you are well prepared when the time for interviews comes around. For majority of agencies the number of people seeking a job, is more important , as they have the information on their books. Most of them advetise the jobs that they don't exist, but why not try the local newspapers , I think they are more helpful than any employment agency. Depending on the type of job you can probably better do the job search yourself. The advice I was given was to use at most two agencies. Quite often if there is a job opening more than one agencies may be trying to fill it. If you happen to have your resume in to too many agencies there is a chance that your name may be presented several times to the client. This makes you look too desperate and potentially lose out on having any chance at getting an interview or the job. Try one or two agencies for a period of time, if they do nothing for you cancel their service and try another one of two. i'm from the north of ireland, 5 years ago there was only about 3 or 4 agencies here, now theres about 150. staff members are packing the immigrants in through the doors with a broom handle, ok ok might be a tall tale but i've seen them line the street on opening hours. i used to have an agency that got me regular work now they wont touch me. i'm with an agency thats got me steady work for the last year (they dont hire immigrants). but they all do the false advertising and registering. i have been taken on full time by a company from an agency before, they waived the fee payable by the company i was subbed to before renweal of the terms agreed. this building firm i've been subbed to for a year will not pay the 1800 quid to take me on full time. end result i lose out on a full time job and they lose the best worker they've ever had. job finished i'm stuck in another shithole a week later. best advice is if you get a placement through an agency get to know the clients and their subbies. be seen grafting and ask the subbies and clients do they need a good worker. last 2 sites i was approached by the brickie subbies foreman for a job. new year i'm a charge hand on a squad of brickies on a new build not through the agency or the building firm i'll be working direct for the brickie squad. the bottom line is as a temp you can decide what days and hours you work where you work and who you work with. i do a standard 40 hours and my line boss knows i will not work with such and such. |
