Is it risky pursuing treatment for your mental health disorder, in my case BPD, because you risk being?

tarnished, brandished and labelled, because entries will be put into your mental health records about you?

and then this will cause you to misportrayed to emigration officials....( because i want to emigrate from britain) and also be misportrayed to employment agencies....where they won't take you on?

has anyone got a view about this?

i have a long mental health record with borderline personality disorder...and i worry how it will affect my goals and ambitions of emigrating from the uk.....and finding employment and just getting a life.

im 30 years old and had a traumatic life and suffered since 15

You want to move to the United States, right? If not, I apologize and you can ignore the rest.

First answerer makes a good point, and I also add:
Here, health law (namely HIPAA) explicitly forbids anyone from prying into you medical history, including issues of mental health. Employers cannot, immigration cannot. And your treating doctor cannot tell anyone anything. The only exception is if you are going to be a threat to other people, but that's not you.

I am also 30, thick mental file. Unless you volunteer information Employers have no way of knowing. They can't ask if you are "mental" it's discrimination, and later if you choose to tell them and an unfavorable outcome occurrs you can graduate to being a sue happy American. Report It

If you have a long mental health record with borderline personality disorder, how is it going to hurt that record that you are seeking help?

If someone is an alcoholic, are they not better off going to AA and acknowledging that they have a problem and seeking help, than getting into the difficulties that alcohol can create?

If someone breaks their leg, are they not better off getting a cast and being "temporarily" disabled, than limping around and risk being permanently disabled?

There is hope.
