Why would a company such as a call center want to hire more part time employees?

Arent they less stable and more likely for hight turnover rates?

Dont fulltime employees give better shift coverage and aren't they easier to schedule around business needs?

What is the benefit of having more part time employees?

Part time employees are usually willing to take less per hour for the same work. Benefits are another cost that can be saved.
Also consider worker burnout in a call center this can be high and having workers log less time dealing with callers each week may mean that they are able to maintain a more positive attitude over a longer period of time.
Some part time workers view their working hours as a break from their normal home life while most full time workers view their working time as a "grind".
Few part time workers are actively seeking to get promotions or raises so they are more willing to work for a longer priod of time for the same pay and responsibilities.

Depending upon the company, many part time employees don't receive benefits (health insurance, retirement plan contributions, etc)
