Work $7.50 / hr in factory?

i am paid $7.50/ hr as employee of a food processing factory in st. louis, missouri. we carry heavy boxes a lot, sweat a lot, and stand on our feet alot. there's a 30 minute lunch break. and 15 minute break. then we clean up the plant by washing equipment,
mopping. there is also a high turnover rate, whch means
we have to hustle to fill in for the other person. there is also overtime.
is 7.50 a little bit low for factory work or is it high?

seems kinda low to me. What is the minimum wage in MO? If you are at least $2 above that, then I guess you are doing okay. Hard wage to make a living at tho. In order to make more money, you need to advance within the company. What my company does is sponsor people to improve themselves. We just helped one employee get their CDL so now he makes more and does more work for us.

Good luck

I'd say it is kind of low. i think the factory's around here (which is a smaller town than St. Louis) normally pays around 10.00 an hour.

In state of NJ they almost pay you minimum. I believe our minimum wage if $7.25
It is way too low for this type of work.
I've been paid $8 an hour four years ago for standing at the register at a local Deli.
But I am from NJ

Sound like you work in a sweat shop.

i think pay rate quite good except the turnover rate's fishy

I live in South Carolina, which is a poor state, but my husband makes 10 an hour and he just started. Keep a log of your overtime and how many people showed up to work as opposed to how many people were supposed to be there. and show it to your boss. Then ask for a raise.

$7.50 an hour is pathetic for that kind of work. I think you already know that.

A little bit low? How about a lot low?
