Fire training of employee's by employer's?

if an employer requiers an employee to fight fire as part of their job not just using a fire extingusher but the same equipment as a real fire fighter shouldn't that employer be requiered to train them?

According to OSHA, yes. They must also supply the employee with turnout gear and SCBA etc

train first b4 put they on duty

Who the hell do you work for??!! Unless you work for the U.S. Department of Defense or a fire department, your employer has no business requiring you as part of job to act in the capacity of a firefighter! Firefighters train for years to get proficient at what they do and this is nothing a employer based "training class" is going to fix. That's a lawsuit waiting to happen!

We have fire departments and firefighters to fight fires. The only thing you as an employee should be required to do as part of your job, is to ensure that you know how to evacuate the building in the event of a fire! This is accomplished by annual fire drills, just like you did in grade school.

I can understand being trained to extinguish an incipient fire with a fire extinguisher, but not to don gear and a pack, grab a hose and fight fire. People can get injured or killed try to do what we train to do just about everyday of our lives. Fighting fires is best left to the professionals.
