The Owner of the Company I work for has NO CONSCIENCE? |
I have worked my butt off for a Escrow Company for 4 long years and for the last 6 months I have kept her doors open it is a fact I am not patting myself on the back. I have been under tremendous stress and have been working long hours and weekends to keep clients happy. I have been in escrow for 25 years and have NEVER experienced the disloyalty as I have here not with just me but other employees I have seen come and go. She recently lied to me about a situation that has effected me and my salary in a big way. She has hired sombody to take 1/2 of the business away from me that I have worked hard to keep now for 1 1/2 years. I cannot begin to explain the disgust I feel not to mention no respect at all for her anymore. Times are tough in this Real Estate Industry but I deserved the truth. No less! I was the last to know about this my fellow employees knew before I did. Embarassing!Loyalty is very important to me. Can anyone please give me advice? I've read this a few times and don't understand how she lied to you. Did she tell you she wasn't going to give new person 1/2 of your business and then did it? Perhaps, with all your experience, she needed to free up your time to generate new business. You are right that you should have been informed first so you could discuss it. Why not take a step up and replace your boss. Start your own business and take the customers with you. Unfortunately she sounds like a sociopath - rarely do they change.... You should look for a way out ASAP... Best Wishes... start writing up a resume and apply for another company...until then...hang in there! Get a new job. Or maybe you should start your own company. I worked for a man whose field was collapsing around him. It was the photographic repro business. I watched him become ruthless, conniving, untrustworthy and thankless to his employees. Tell your boss what you think of the situation. Give her the opportunity to make things right. If not, don't be afraid to walk off the job. WOW! It is insane how little loyalty we get from some employers these days. However, it is imperative that you find some life lesson out of this. LOOK, you deserve to be happy at work. I went from a job I hated to one I love. It make all the difference. I say visit www.monster.com and take it from there. loyalty is a very important and rare virtue and you happen to have it.i can feel your disapointment at not been treated fairly.every employer wants whats best for their establishments.your boss feels taking on a spare hand will bring her more productivity.can you blame her for that?loyalty doesnt pay her bills, money does.try to place yourself in her position and ask yourself what you would have done.ask yourself if your boss has ever been harsh to you and if the answer is no then i suggest you understand her situation and help her move further so she can take you along. Quit, work some place else. If you can't, then throttle back -- stop working so hard for somebody you don't trust. If you are truly that valuable to that company then they would be afraid for you to walk. Or, as so often happens in office politics, you are making her look bad because you could be out performing her. Remember to be politically savy, never whiney. If I were you, I would calculate how much money you have brought to the company. Present your case and demonstrate how valuable you are. Perhaps you are being taken for granted. I would simply explain that you are very proud of your work and want to continue to work in an environment that you can continue to be successful and motivated in. If that doesn't work, start putting out resumes, baby! Get another job and keep a list of your contacts. Then you can send your clients a nice little card and tell them that you hope that they will remain in contact and thank them for their loyalty. Resume ! New Job ! My advice to you is this: understand that people act in their own self-interest, and in all but the most honorable few, conscience takes a secondary role to money. Determine if you will be able to continue working here after the incident that took place. If not, quit ASAP. But do not go back and try to undo what was done. You'll just be creating a bigger mess for yourself. |
