How to get my brother motivated and provide him with confidence?

My 34 yr old brother is severley lacking motivation and confidence to join the majority of americans as a full time employee.

He currently works at a grocery store 10-15 hours per week pushing shopping carts.

I know he has the ability to do more with him self, and I have let him know this, however he continues to tell me that he is unable to focus for long periods of time, thus he would not make it as a FT employee anywhere.

I feel that all of his spare time has made him depressed and it has become the self full filling prophecey (he keeps telling him self he cant do better).

Ive spent numerous hours on the phone with him , trying to get through to him that he can be somebody and it is just his thoughts that are getting in the way.

Does anyone have a loved one in a similar situation?

I hate to see him depressed and just wondering through life.

What about encouraging him to get a second part time job in a different field. Then he would be focusing on something else - it would maybe help him gain the confidence he needs to gradually move into a full time position somewhere.

It isn't your business

Read a few books about boundary issues and ownership [relationship] issues. Maybe also about dependency relationships.

Take him to church.

well...don't waste time talking to him on the phone...go visit him and talk to him...and go jogging or for a walk everday for 25 nminutes ....it helps...or take him out to a nightclub or something....

There has got to be more to this ?Why noy take him to a Dr.and find out if he has other problems ! Medical
