I need information on who to contact if I am not being treated fairly at work?


The company I work for does not have an HR policy handbook (because this company is small), we have never had seminars on how employees need to conduct themselves, and a few of us at our workplace have been put on probation without being told why, and now we are being "watched" and "tested" by the executives at our company. I was wondering, since we don't have an HR policy and we are being abused at our workplace, is there any place we can call to report this? We are in California. Thanks!

You should be able to call either the better business bureau or maybe the govt division that handles wage and labor, and fair business practices. If they can't help you 100%, then at least maybe you will get information to get you started.

Because your company is small, what makes you think the actions are illegal?

They are not...there is no law that states that you have to like where you work, that you have to be treated fairly, and that bosses cannot "give you a hard time."

The BBB will NOT help you in employment matters...it is a CONSUMER protection agency...that isn't their job.

The Labor Board deals with mostly wage/hour issues (pay) and safety issues. Anything on the basis of discrimination fall under the jurisdiction of the EEOC.

Employment law also recognizes another right you have...the right to leave.
