Can I revoke my signature on my employee yearly evaluation.?


I know that my boss has it in for me. I totally disagree with what was written on my yearly evaluation, but I signed it. Now I want to dispute what was written. What action can I take without putting my job at risk?

With most outfits, your signature is just an acknowledgment that you have seen the eval, not that you agree with it. If you disagree with it, acknowledge that you have seen it and then find out if your company has a procedure for disputing it.

You signed it, end of story.

Once you have signed a document there is not going back. Your signature makes you a party to the document from that moment on, into eternity.

If you do have an issue with your boss, I suggest you visit with the friendly folks down in human resources and see if you can work out a solution that will allow you to keep your job, and go to work in a more peaceful setting.

First, I think you have no choice but to sign the document, acknowledging your boss gave you an evaluation.

However, there's usually a process if you dispute something in the evaluation. If you have an HR Department, I would contact them to find out what that is. Sometimes it's explained right on the form, so take a look.

If there's no formal process in place and you don't have an HR Department, write and sign a letter explaining what you didn't agree with, and ask to have it added to your employee file, along with your latest evaluation.

This issue is not a legal issue. This is simply a matter of company policy.
