Should private companies shift the costs of medical benefits directly onto employees?

Some argue that it's not the company's responsibility to pay your medical costs. You should be responsible to get your own medical coverage.

Sometimes it is not a matter of should or shouldn't it is a matter of can or can't, many businesses are struggling with costs already. I don't think it is the responsibility of the business to supply you with health care it is a negotiable part of your pay plan.
Companies don't have to provide medical benefits to their employees at all unless there's a law in your state say so.
