What widow's benefits are available to wife of a medically retired Air Force man, and retired V.A. employee. |
Husband died 8/09/06, was medically retired from Air Force, also was a V.A. employee(was on workman's comp, but since death was not work related, retirement (which was approved) automatically started, also was a 100% service connected veteran. At a standstill(no death certificate as 9/06/06), trying to figure out what monthly income will be. I already received the $255.00(for one time death benefit) from social security, and social security told me today, I would get $798.00 a month. If someone could just please help me. Here is a website from the VA that might help: http://www.vba.va.gov/bln/dependents/ind... Or you could try calling this phone number 1-800-827-1000 for information on the Death Pension. May God bless you and your family during this time and good luck. If her husband was 100% service connected, she should be eligible for ChampVA. That's a biggie...she can get all her medicine free. There's some paperwork, but it's worth it. It saves my mother about $500 a month. Good luck! |
