More education or get a job?

Arg! What should I do? More education or job?
I know that nobody can answer this question for me, but perhaps someone can give me something to think about that I have not thought of already. Here is my problem. I am about to get my B.S. in Political Science. I originally wanted to go on and get an M.S. in Homeland Security and work for the Federal Government. However, I found out that the two convictions I got when I was 18, assult and disturbing the peace, would probably bar me from aquiring a job.

So I have decided to go a different route and I have 2 choices. I have a standing offer to go out and work in the oilfield. I have worked there before and I hate everything but the money, and the money is good! About $100,000 a year. The hours are miserable and the work is awful. Except for the money It is a miserable dog's life!

Or, I can get another degree in accounting. I have been accepted into the program and I have loved the accounting classes I have taken to date.

I know this is not the answer you want but it all depends on you...

Let me answer this question the best way I can

if you are looking to make more money than I would say continue with school and get the higher education education, it will help you a lot in the end and I think it is the best choice for anyone.

If you are in a bind and need money and cant wait then it may be best to just go to work.... See it all depends on your situation and where you sit financially.

But the best way I can answer this question is yes you should go back to school and further your education so that you can get the best job possible and make the most money you can.... good luck!!
Money is not everything. Go for the education and get a job you would like to go to everyday.
Could you perhaps work it out to try and do both? Work in the oil field to save money until your accounting degree is official? That may be your best bet.

Money is not worth your happiness. If you think you would truly be miserable working in the oil field and would be happy as an accountant, I would perhaps just work at the oil field until I earned my degree.

Good luck!
If it's money you're after, take the job. If it's job satisfaction, don't.
Get a job that will pay for you to go back to school. I earned my BA from an art school in Philly. Now I live in Vegas and my company is paying 100% of my tuition. I am going to UNLV at night to get my MBA in business management. I go at night so it is going to take a bit longer.
i would go for the degree. i know that it wont pay as much but if you really enjoy doing it then the money wont matter. i hope you make the right decision. good luck
Look at a new career, but you dont' need to go back to school for that. Getting another degree without much more experience just makes you look like a professional student. Find a company that has a great education allowance and go to school at night on them.
