Top Education + Top Job = Recipe for Happy Life?

I am a college student who happen to be not so good at academics. Hence, I only go to state university instead of Ivy League Univ. like Harvard, Yale, Princeton.
My parents often tells me that I won't get a good job or make good money if I don't go to top-notch school and make good grades. It always hurts hearing that as it is NOT my intention that I am not such a good student. Although they say it for my well-being, it sometimes makes me really depressed and even suicidal at times.
I know education is important. But I don't believe higher education always means mroe happiness. I wanna ask u guys. How happy are you being a Ivy Leaguer or Ivy League grad and making hefty sums of money and recognition from people wherever you go? I just wanted to hear from first-hand account. Because based on what my parents tell me, it must be a fantastic life every day. Thanks in advance for any insights.

I'm not Ivy League but I've done OK for myself

Something you should tell your parents. There has been studies which have shown a reverse correlation between intelligence and happiness. Just because you are smarter, doesn't mean you are happier.

Going to an Ivy League school is not a guarantee of money or happiness. There are more successful and happy people in the world then there are Harvard Grads.

If your goal is simply to make money because you think it will make you happy then you are likely to be disappointed. Money is a means to other things and having more money can relieve some stressors in life, but as they say, it can't buy you love or happiness

You should have a goal (or 20 goals). Achieving things you legitimately want will make you happier.

If you are legitimately depressed and suicidal, seek help.
Yes, most Ivy Leaguers with top jobs are quite satisfied and have a great chance for a happy life. I went to an Ivy League school, and have indeed a fantastic life, but you can do well without getting into at top school.

Education IS important, it gives you a lot more options to choose the job that you like. Why not just put in a little more work every day in school? Remember: You can do what you put your mind to. Good luck.
My plumber drives a Mercedes and plays drums in a band on the weekends. He is one of the happiest people I know. Your parents have a lot to learn about life. Ignore them.
