Question about Education and getting a good job.?

Ok, here is the deal. I am 27 years old, and I have nothing. I work as a security guard for $9.00 an hour, and I am having a hard time seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I want a lot more like other 27 year old that I have run into. Some have new houses, a new car, and a new bass boat, which I would really like to have. The problem is I don't have very much education. In fact, I don't even have my GED. Can someone please tell me what I need to do, and the least amount of schooling I need to complete to get a job that would put my life into a much better situation. I try not to think about this, because it gets me very depressed. Could someone tell me a job that I may make some good money doing, and what would be required for that job? I am not very good at labor jobs, so getting my hands dirty would not be very good for me. Please help. I am just trying to find some meaning in my life other than video games and alcohol. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would most definitely recommend getting your GED. That is a must. No ands, ifs or buts about it.

Once you obtain your GED, you either need to go to college or a technical school. Look into a Community College, a trade school, a local vo-tech, something that will provide you with some training for a career. A career in computers, the medical field, sales, etc. may be the right track for you.

Don't look at what others have. If age has taught me anything (I am soon to be 35), it is that most people live on credit. They may have many impressive things but really can't afford them. I see couples all the time that make far less than my wife and I and truly live above their means.

Finally, if you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord, Savior and King, please consider doing so. Accept him, read the Bible every day. Find a good church that teaches the Bible and administers the Sacraments faithfully.

Search out a good Pastor or counselor who can advise you not only on a career path but on your spiritual life as well.

God bless you.

Should you wish to discuss any of this further, feel free to email me.
Do you have a community college where you might go and learn a trade? If so you would certainly qualify for grants I'm sure. Keepthis in mind, sadly, blue collar workers, general laborers, are a dime a dozen. It would be rare if you became successful without a trade of some sort under your belt. Contact your local high school and see if there are GED classes available for you. Not only will it increase your income, you'll be come more marketable and your self-esteem will rise. Best of luck. You can do it.
If you enjoy video games, perhaps you can take a course that will teach you to create the programs for the video games.
