I am totally confused between my job and education, can u help? |
i've worked @ this place for more than 2 years now.i've done my best @ my work and i'm considered the best worker too. still haven't gotten raise much that i supposed to get.now my job place is closing and i'll transfer to the other branch which is little far, with little more salary and little more responsibilty. i've been working @ both places 7 days a week-my own branch and also helping the one where i'm going.but the other branch where i'm going has everyday something going on. always problems! no one to work sincerely. and in 9 months there has been 15 employees leaving-reason lack of management. few ppl are waiting 4 me so that they'll teach me everything and then they'll quit.now i decided to work there cause of money and position. but now the situation will be like work work and work don't know bout salary yet. and cause of job i'm getting very behind in college. should i continue working or just find another part time job.plz help IMO, you should focus on your education. Having that degree is what will get you more leverage at the beginning of your "after-schooling" career than anything else. It sounds like your current job is taking advantage of your good work ethic. One thing I've learned about working for anyone but yourself...when push comes to shove, your employer will always cover his/her/its butt first and yours will be out the door if that is what your employer thinks he/she/it needs to do. They SAY they care about individual workers but in almost 20 years of working for different companies--tiny, 2-people entrepreneurships, multi-national companies, publicly held, private, venture-capital-funded, etc., I have yet to come across a company that will the needs of its workers about its own ability to move forward. Or maybe I'm just cynical. All I know is that nobody is going to watch out for you and your best interests better than YOU can. And finishing your education is always in your best interest. If the company is that messed up, which it sounds like it is, then I'd say get out while the getting's good, while they like you and appreciate your work. You can always go back later if that's what you want to do, or you can ask them to provide a reference for future jobs. So back to your original question, education comes first. Wishing you the best whatever you decide! According to me U Have to change your company to overcome this problem, cause im too passed through same situation... hope u will find a BETTER job quickly.
