Is education over rated? |
the refinery were i work at employs two hundred out of that only about a quarter of them have degrees, even in the lab they have a couple of people with just a ged, some people got there by family and friends while the rest was there at the right time and place, and this isnt the only job were i have seen this my friend is a safety manager for a major pipeline company and he quit high school in the ninth grade and all he did was turn in an application and started earning thirty an hour doing safety, he told me he has people under him with four year degrees, would it piss you off in a way if your boss didnt even have a ged ? or if you worked in a lab and they told you to in house train somebody with a just a ged? isnt that the primary reason for getting an education is to get a job? job experience equally matters. No, it is not over rated. Yes education is overated. The best education is real life experience. No matter how high of a college degree you get, you'll never be a multimillionaire. very much over rated...i only trust experience! Yes, education is over-rated. You pay alot of money money just so someone can verify that you read a book. Read the book on your own and keep the money in your pocket. Wisdom is what is worth the most in this world, and that comes from experiencing life, watching others & yourself make mistakes and making sure not to repeat them. A degree is a piece of paper that is worthless against hard life experience. And Bullshit- KAS- This country has the most Multimillionaires- many of them did not complete the 9th grade but they have prospered and created many innovations and jobs in this country because of thier persistence and determination. A man can achieve anything if he has purpose. According to an article on MSN.com the other day over a 40 year period the person with the degree will make a million dollars more than the person with just a high school diploma. So ask yourself is a million bucks over rated. I also found your question rather short sited, do you just want a job or do you want a career? You will be eligible for a lot more promotions, advancement and the raises that come along with them as well. Just look a little farther down the road. http://encarta.msn.com/encnet/department... |
