Better computer education???

What is the best type of education for a career in computers/it jobs?? I was thinking like a college degree? or a degree from a place like devry?? or just going to community colleges and getting certifications?? I don't really know much about it and i want to actually do something that will be useful.

When choosing education, make sure you consider the reputation of a school. I just graduated from Devry this July, and was offered a job in the beginning of August. Devry helped get my resume "out" and the company I'm now working for hires a lot of Devry graduates. I would research what type of job you want, for example I am a computer programming so I believed it beneficial to get a bachelors degree. If you want to be a network administrator I would probably get some schooling and more certifications. Good luck!

Computer Science or any programming course are in these days
Join the Air Force IT Field, you will be provided schooling, training, work experience and they pay, not you! After wards, you can work anyplace that you want to.
Generally speaking, you will get a better education in computers if you go to a four year college rather than a two year community college; and a better education from a two year community college than just getting certifications; and so on.

Likewise, potential employers will value your education along the same lines. (Google, for instance, is extremely interested in hiring people w/ Ph.D.'s)

In my experience though, getting a solid education in computers comes mainly from what you invest in it. If you are more interested in system administration, help other people with their computer problems - you'll learn a ton. If you are more interested in programming, take time on your own to learn a programming language (like Python http://www.python.org) for instance.
