Should higher education be free?

considering that higher education is at a premium rate in the united states. however as college education increasingly becomes the standard to get a decent paying job, the question free college education for everyone comes to mind. should there be state colleges that give a varied level and quality of college education? feel free to expand or answer the question from whatever point of view pleases you.

I think education should be free for every residence of every country no matter were they come from and what there parents do.A society that does not provide for free education for its residence is causing problem for itself in future.FREE EDUCATION IS THE KEY TO OUR FUTURE

well in singapore most school that is under goverment are consider quite cheap and they have schemes that help financial difficulty family...

yeah but i dun mind if it is free but think again in terms of business where would teachers and other non-teaching staff receive their funds?
