Other jobs for teachers??

I want to be an elementary teacher when I get older but, I know that some point in my life when I am getting older I might get burned out. So, could some of you burned out teachers who took a different career path tell me what are some other jobs that you can get with an education degree. What age is it on average that Teachers get burned out?

If someone is getting burned out as a teacher it is very likely that they shouldn't have been a teacher in the first place.

Why do you know you will suffer this fate?

Teacher burnout is more often the result of isolation in poorly run schools and stress related conditions, not because of the profession itself. In fact I fail to see if your passionate and committed to teaching how it can be so. Ok there will be bad days every job has that!

If I were you I'd sit and evaluate why you want to be an elementary school teacher?

Here's a tip - it won't be easy - but it can be rewarding - thats up to you.

Below is a few pointers. But let me say this, all jobs carry stress and and anxiety, so choose a field where you know you can really get stuck in. If your going into teaching, for money, time off or an easy work day - forget it! Source(s): http://wik.ed.uiuc.edu/index.php/teacher...

a teacher of 21 years, not burned out, but regenerated every September by a bunch of new faces, ready to learn, and excited
Whether you get burned out or not many systems have a good retirement package, so you wouldn't want to give that up unless your new position what ever that might be is worth it financially.
As long as you are in the system you can make a switch to Admin.

There is no average age when teachers get burnt out....Also, it depends where you are teaching...I believe statiscially, teachers are more prone to lose their desire to teach in public schools because of all the office politics and bureacracy.

However, you can get a degree in anything and still be a teacher...though for certain subjects you might need more college credits.
I love the abuse I get from unruly children at work each day!
My word! Who has been talking this nonsense to you? Of course, some people burn out. But, that does not mean that it will or must happen to you.

Please read some of the comments from teachers who wrote back to you .... and have some faith! Don't let anyone make you pessimistic. You have years ahead and
will find many nice things for yourself..stay
away from negative programming.

Since you seem so genuinely concerned,
just keep on the watch for other careers
that might interest you. That way you will
feel more at ease.
