Where can i find a job that deals with Special Education as a Paraprofessionals?

Experienced working with students with disabilities for ten years. Seeking for a job after relocating from Guam to Georgia.

Check the local school district that you live in and also private schools in the area. Paraprofessionals are in great demand, and since you have 10 years of experience, you should be snapped up in a minute! Good Luck Source(s): Sped. teacher for 8 years

WORKING IN SPECIAL EDUCATION JOBS:

Depending on what city you live in -the procedure will be different. I suppose that in small towns, just go to the local school. Speak with the principal or dean and ask him for an application.

IN larger cities like New York City, you need to go the board of education building , (check the directory there) and get an application from them.

In larger cities, like New York, check the government newspaper or city jobs newspaper. (In NY it's called THE CHIEF , and it's published every week and usually new copies are put on the newstands on Thursday. (Bigger newstands have it and some small ones do also.

In larger cities, check the main branch of the public library . These branches USUALLY have a "JOB CENTER" where you can get free training and free workshops for getting a job and the job trainer can point you in the right direction for the job that you are seeking.

There's also a newspaper put out by the teachers' union. So , ask around, and find the name of that newspaper and get a subscription or a few copies of that and you'll have a head start.

Check the white pages or yellow pages and look for listings of private schools that accept special education students. At any of these schools, you might be able to apply there also.

Write to or call the MAYOR's ACTION CENTER or the CALL FOR ACTION CENTER (check online for these) and ask them to refer you to jobs or ask them where you do begin in this career search.

Go to your child's or a friend's child's school and speak with the special education teachers there, and to the Dean or Principal there and they will give you good information.

Check the newspapers that are in other languages. Sometimes the cities put ads in certain newspapers when the same advertisement for jobs is withheld from regular newspapers.

There are hundreds of ways that you can find a job in special education. Just use your imagination to think of others.

Last, but not least, check all bulletins from your child's school and all the flyers at the local libraries. Sometimes job reps leave ads or information in libraries and other places.

Buy business cards and hand them out to everyone you know and tell them you are available to teach with special education.

There are career books at the libraries job center, that show you all the info you need about all careers so you have a head start if you begin there.

TELL ALL your friends and neighbors and co-workers that you are job hunting. They will let you know if they have any leads. Someone you know might actually know someone who is seeking a paraprofessional .

That's all for now.
