Are Education/Skills/Qualifications Important When Considering Job Applicants?

Not if you are black. Many people won't hire 'coloreds' no matter what! MIT and University of Chicago studies show.
"highly qualified "black" candidates had no advantage over their less qualified black peers, but "white" candidates' odds of an interview skyrocketed with increased skills." So is the problem truly with black people not bettering themselves or with racist white people(though I admit there is blame to go around)?

Its a complex problem. And more sociology than psychology. Here's some of the main factors:
1) There is indeed a good deal of covert racsm
2) Even white people not conciously racist still are influenced by cultural assumptions/images
3) There continues to be an educational disparity between blacks and whites

At lower level jobs/skill levels, there are additional factors:
1) Hiring decisions are more likely to be made by less educated whites--and so more likely to harbor racist attitudes or subscribe to stereotypes
2) educational disparities are more pronounced
3) Less educated blacks are more likely not to know how to "walk the walk and talk the talk" that is required to present oneself in a mannner that is acceptable to middle-class (especially lower middle class) whites.
Stop beating a dead horse. Hate crimes black on white are 666% to 1. Get your facts straight boing. The truth is out, come on we all know the deal.
if a black man came into my business and had the qualifications and the education needed to perform the job I would hire him right there and then because good help is hard to find, and if he or she went to the trouble to get the education then that means they would and have applied themselves
