Should ex convicts get a job and free education when we pay for our own education and tax?

its 4 debate that shoud ex convict get a second chance when people who didnt commit any crime and can't find any job to survive also we pay tax but ex convict haven't pay tax we should allow them to use our money

years ago in the state i live in inmates were allowed to get a collage education in prison. at some point they, the state, felt that it was a good idea to keep them busy while in prison. later on they did realize it was a waste of tax payers money when the inmates with the death penalty were some of the individuals in the programs ,for obvious reasons, it was stopped. all along inmates without a high school diploma were required under the age of 21 to get their g.e.d. which also looked good when they went up for their parole hearing. since recent cutbacks, the institution i work at, the education department was discontinued and the full time teachers were transferred to other camps. some camps still have an education department but the g.e.d. program, at my institution, is still an option it just has less one on one and conducted by volunteer's not paid staff. technically, inmates still receive a free education with the exception they have to pay to take the g.e.d. test.
each institution has some type of industry ie making license plates, state soap and so on. for an inmate to be allowed to work in these industries they have to earn that right by not receiving violations of state rules. at my institution we have a metal factory, now these inmates can receive certificates in wielding when they complete their course/time require for it. this certificate is honored on the streets just as if they had attended a trade school. in prison they work 40 hrs a week and get paid under $50 a month for that particular job and this is one of the higher paying jobs at my institution. it's a proven fact that inmates that receive a recognized trade they are less likely to return back into the system.
should ex convicts get a job? sure, why not let them support themselves and their families without the help of the state or mine and your hard earned taxes. regardless, they still apply for a job just like anyone else does with an application and interview. not to metion not all employers will hire an ex con.
some inmates are just destine to stay in prison too. if they can keep their noses clean then that's great but if not, then it's just job security for me. bottom line, it's their choice.

What ex convict gets a "free job"? You mean that they have a job waiting for them when they get out? The idea is that these people would simply go immediately back to a life of crime if jobs weren't available... and the reward of a productive "straight" life might just keep them from recidivism...
Where did you get this "ex convict doesn't pay tax" stuff? Of course they pay taxes on income they make! Now, their employers get a tax credit when they hire ex cons (to make it seem a little less frightening to do so) but that doesn't mean ex cons don't pay taxes.

As far as education goes, I don't know that ex cons get "free" education either. They may have that opportunity as convicts in the slammer, but I don't think that's the case once they're on the outside.

(Strange debate.)

Help getting back into the workforce and job training as needed to accomplish that serves us. An employed convict is far less likely to commit another crime than is an unemployed one. But once employed they should be subject to the same rules as the rest of us, including taxes.

Would you rather they come out of prison with no other skills than the ones that got them arrested in the first place? Think about it.

No, I don't think they should because statistics show that a majority return to prison. It's a waste of money, use the funds to help at risk kids to stay off the streets.

Well, clearly an ex-con is likely to need help finding a stable job...job placement is probably a good investment by the community. Put him to work so you don't have to put him back in jail! As for the "free" education, you need more detail...an ex-con who has served his (or her) time should be eligible for any educational services the community has to offer. I don't think large numbers of former prisoners are doing MBAs on the public dollar!

It is the best interest of the greater society to rehabilitate offenders. Penitentiaries as house of punishment went out many years ago as it was not an effective way to deal with criminals. By the way, you may consider education to improve your English language and writing skills as your question is torturing our language as written.

Because buying them an education is alot cheaper than catching them and holding them in prison for years and years.
